The Woodlands Church was established in 1993 by Kerry and Chris Shook. The Shooks began their ministry, which was at first known as Fellowship of the Woodlands, with the intention of reaching out to the families in their community by providing them with encouraging music, a welcoming environment, and a pertinent message that can be applied to your life. The Woodlands Church has expanded to three campuses and now has over 18,000 people attending on a weekly basis.
We want you to have a positive experience at one of our campuses from the time you walk through the front doors of any of them. We think that the church should be a place where individuals from all different walks of life may come together in an atmosphere that is both caring and safe. Because we want your children and teenagers to have the same positive experience attending church that you do, we have created a warm and welcoming setting in which you and your family can learn more about Christ and grow as a Christian family.
Our goal is to get people to focus on their relationship with Jesus Christ rather than the religions that have been created by man, so that they can mature in their faith and share it with the rest of the world. We hold the belief that the Bible is the inspired word of God, that God loves you without condition, and that He has a plan and a purpose for your life.

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, that it is divinely inspired, that the original manuscripts are error-free, and that God has kept it for us; we also think that the Bible is the authoritative guide for the church and for each of us individually for every age.
In 1993, Kerry and Chris Shook founded the church together. Chris Shook is Kerry’s wife. In the beginning, there were only eight people who attended worship services, and they held those services in rented space at The Woodlands High School. Earlier in his career, Shook served as a pastor at the Airline Manor Baptist Church.
It had around 10,000 members in its congregation in 2001[3], with that number attending on a basis of two to three months, and with 6,000 routinely going every weekend. [Citation needed] In 2001, it had approximately 10,000 members in its congregation.
[2] On August 19, 2001, the doors to its permanent church structure were first opened. [3] It has a building that is 150,000 square feet (14,000 square meters) in size and sits on a block of land that is 65 acres (26 ha), and it also has a multipurpose room that can accommodate 4,000 people. The building came in at a price of 24 million dollars.
In the year 2007, the church averaged approximately 14,000 visitors on Sundays. The neighborhoods of Atascocita, Humble, and Kingwood in Houston accounted for approximately 2,000 of the attendees, 800 of whom were regular attendees. Because of the increasing number of people attending worship services at the church, a satellite location known as Woodlands Church East was built and now services are held on Sundays at Atascocita High School.
By the year 2008, the total number of people attending Sunday services in The Woodlands and Atascocita had climbed to 15,000. Within the church, there were approximately 3,000 young people. At its primary location in The Woodlands, the church had established a facility just for children. It was on September 14 of that year that another satellite campus was founded. This one was located in Tomball at the Concordia Lutheran High School.
