In 1994, when Roger Galatas was serving as president of The Woodlands Operating Company, he oversaw the opening of Alden Bridge, which is now considered to be one of the more recent villages in The Woodlands, TX. He gave it the name of the town in Louisiana where he was born and raised.
FM 2978 and FM 1488 are the two roads that surround Alden Bridge, which makes it one of the larger villages in The Woodlands. The Research Forest and the University Center are both quite accessible from this location. It is home to more than 18,000 people and contains around 7,000 dwellings. Both the Alden Bridge Village Center and the Windvale Village Center are examples of shopping centers that may be found in the area.
This community is served by the elementary schools of Barbara Bush Elementary (kindergarten through fourth grade), Buckalew Elementary (kindergarten through fourth grade), and David Elementary (kindergarten through fourth grade), in addition to Mitchell Intermediate (5th and 6th grades) and Collins Intermediate (5 & 6 grades). Depending on where in the neighborhood they live, students either attend College Park High School or The Woodlands High School.
The Alden Bridge Village Association (ABVA) is a community-based organization that does not seek to generate a profit for its members. Its members are elected volunteers from the surrounding neighborhoods. The ABVA is a sponsor of a number of community events, both social and civic. In addition to this, it acts as an active resident contact with the board of directors and staff members of The Woodlands Township regarding a wide variety of topics and concerns.
Scholarships are given out on an annual basis by the Alden Bridge Village Association to deserving seniors from local high schools who intend to continue their studies after high school. High school students who live in the Village of Alden Bridge in The Woodlands, Texas, are eligible to apply for this award, the purpose of which is to recognize and encourage a spirit of community involvement and good citizenship among these students.
